Luck. Charisma. Success. Manifestation. These words get tossed around a lot, often tied to a mix of superstition and self-confidence. Some people swear by four-leaf clovers and knocking on wood, while others believe that hard work is the only thing that truly pays off. Me? I believe in a little bit of everything. Effort. Energy. Timing. A well-placed “please make this happen” whispered to the universe.
But here’s the thing about luck: more often than not, it’s something we create for ourselves.
Manifesting or Just Paying Attention?
I fully believe in speaking things into existence—a parking spot, a green turn arrow, finding the perfect pair of pants. I also know that part of “manifestation” is just paying attention and following through. Hoping your dinner doesn’t burn? Keep an eye on the stove, and voila! Is it magic? Maybe. Or maybe it’s just the fact that when you focus on something, you naturally put in the effort to make it happen.
Ever heard of Lucky Girl Syndrome? It’s the idea that if you believe good things will happen to you, they will. A mix of optimism and manifestation, it plays on the psychology that when we focus on positivity, we tend to notice (and attract) more of it. But here’s the trick—it’s not just about believing. It’s about doing.
Failure Can Be Luck with Bad Lighting
Some of the best things in my life have come from what initially felt like failure. Rejections, closed doors, lost chances, missed opportunities—in the moment, failure can feel final, but it almost always leads to something better. My family has always been a big fan of the idea that when one door closes, another opens. And while it’s a cliché, it’s also true. Sometimes the “bad luck” we dwell on is actually clearing the path for something that fits even better.
Oftentimes failures are just detours. The kind where you stumble around in the dark for a bit, trip over some metaphorical debris, and then eventually walk straight into something better. Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.
A Little Everyday Magic
I think we all have some mundane magic. Little pockets of luck that are specific to us, tiny things we brush off as coincidence or chance. Maybe you’re the person whose microwave popcorn never burns. Maybe you’ve never cracked your phone screen, no matter how many times you drop it. Maybe you always get green lights when you’re running late.
That’s magic. That’s luck. That’s energy.
Whatever you want to call it, the point is this: we can all create it for ourselves. We can all find tiny moments of success. Whether it’s by manifesting, working hard, believing in the impossible, or just refusing to quit, we are constantly shaping our own paths of identity development.
I don’t know if I’m lucky, exactly. But I know that if I believe good things are coming, I’m more likely to notice when they do. And if I keep creating, keep showing up, keep trying—then eventually, the right things will click into place.
So—if you’re waiting for a sign, for a stroke of luck, for a perfectly timed opportunity—this might be it.
